    Hearth Premier Senior Living is committed to the wellbeing of our residents and staff and helping them see the connection between food choices and health. That’s why we have started offering Meatless Monday meals in all our dining rooms. Meatless Monday features new plant-based menu items and educates our residents on the benefits of eating less meat and more whole foods. In addition, reducing the consumption of farm-raised meat benefits the Earth by protecting precious resources (such as water and fossil fuels) used in its production. Eating less meat can mean LIVING MORE!

    The Hearth endorses the Meatless Monday movement because:

    • Studies show red and processed-meat consumption is associated with colon cancer and increases the risk of Type 2 diabetes.
    • People on low-meat or vegetarian diets have significantly lower body weights, and weight-related health problems.
    • The meat industry generates nearly one-fifth of the man-made greenhouse gas emissions that are accelerating climate change.
    • The water needs of livestock far exceed those of vegetable or grain crops

    The statistics about the dangerous impacts of dehydration on senior health are alarming. That’s why we’ve taken hydration to a completely new level and instituted The Hearth Health Hydration initiative at our retirement communities in New York, Connecticut, Indiana, and Tennessee.
